1995 Clueless dropped and I was in Private School. I remember the girls was wearing short plaid uniform short skirts and these inexpensive black chucky heeled shoe with a silver zippers/lace up/buckles/or loafer. And in the magazines also videos all the POP/R&B lady singers were wearing this look with high watered pant, which was a little high waisted with these designer high (chucky) heeled boots (where you saw the whole boot almost). DKNY, CHANEL, and GUCCI were behind some of the styles if I can remember right. Being that CLUELESS had a big IMPACT the "mary jane" was huge too and knee high socks.
Alexander Wang was in junior high...so he took himself sort of back there when designing his FALL 2010 Alexander Wang womenswear footwear collection. I totally remember my Junior High Teacher Ms. Freckle Face Liberman with curly hair (aww man Ms. Liberman twenty something back then, round cute face, freckles, brunette curly hair, tall, fashionable, and so nice) wearing all the styles of shoes that favors this current Alexander Wang look. Her colleague Ms. Broadman my math teacher too adopted the style (also brunette, glasses, fashionable also, manicured nails, patient, and favorite word "ENOUGH" when being stern with students). So to see the look be revamped is awesome. This is what makes Alexander Wang dope he understands to make the classics, timeless and effortless.
C'mon look at your "TOM FORD" book with Amber Valletta inspired by Carine Roitfeld GUCCI Ads, look at D'Angelo "Lady" video, Madonna, Debie Mazar, Shirley Manson, Total, Foxy, Lil' Kim, Mary, Brandy, and Monica videos also editorials back then.

OooOoK as I always say I'm a sucker for dope fashion editorials... Photographer Mario Sorrenti and Emmanuelle Alt are a cool ass team. Simple done fantastically well and cool (do YOU see the kicks on Natasha Poly do you SEE em...? and DO YOU SEE NATASHA POLY DO YOU SEE HER... DO YOU...?!!!). May Farrah Fawcett rest in peace because she's smiling down on this fashion editorial...
BTW Emmauelle I'm dying to know where Jordan 1's on set red/black color way...I mean with all the other classics kicks, I just assumed...Again outstanding Fashion interpretation.

Models.com is one of my favorite sites because they profile some of Fashion's innovators, creators, and image makers. I've posted a few highlights of the Photographers or Stylist they have shined light on as well as my own captures, whose work I appreciated or have admired or just the questions that was asked and the answers that were reciprocated. This one holds close to home because if you didn't know this blog is blogged by me where I style and have assisted stylist's...and highlights my love of fashion, fashion editorial, and all that inspires me to keep on the path of fashion interpreting.
Melanie Huynh's feedback is awesome and aside from her visible fashion work, her fashion style has been taken notice by many. And like she states stylist were always behind the scenes or rarely seen, but now with movements of fashion blogs, reality shows, and curiosity. People want to know the face and style behind the fashion interpretations.

2. What are your inspirations and the references you always come back to in your work?
I have many references! I can be inspired by a film, a book, a show, etc… but more frequently I find inspiration in a muse or icon. Many women inspire me but I mostly trust my instincts and try to feel the current trends.
I am inspired by influential women who defined their generation: Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve, Jane Birkin, Romy Schneider, Marilyn Monroe, Kate Moss… and also by the greatest photographer’s vision like Helmut Newton or Guy Bourdin… and from creators like YSL or Chanel.
3. What do you think of the phenomenon of the star-stylists, and the attention that your personal style gets on the street style blogs?
With the democratizing influence of the internet and films like “The devil wears Prada” the biggest designers and editors in chief have become stars, several years ago no one was aware of their work.
Fashion now reaches a large audience and many young girls dream of expressing their ideas and sense of style by working in fashion. It seems to me that being a stylist is perceived as being more accessible than being a model, and especially more influential. Even if fashion shoots are the result of team work, the stylists are defining their own signature style while they were fairly unknown until recently. There are books on the great photographers, makeup artists, hair stylists, but on fashion stylists it is quite rare.
I am quite surprised that I have been part of this phenomenon, even if in a small part. I love fashion and styling, and I am delighted if my personal style is appreciated.
I love the street style blogs and I think they revolutionized the fashion industry, especially the pioneer Scott Schuman. I greatly admire the work of Tommy Ton and Garance Doré.

Who said that a look book has to show the product...That's what I love about The Inoue Brothers AW2010 look book it's styled amazingly and interpreted in a SS2010 setting, instead of the predictable autumn day cold winter look. It's Genius and the look book is shot out in South Africa... The Fader and Selectism sums up The Inoue Brothers point of view perfectly (I'm just reposting because I'm a sucker for great styling and that's visibly shown...no words can describe)
"Styling cardigans in Lawrence of Arabia head knots, the images flip the entire notion of cozy winter warmers."- Fader
"The Fader turns us onto the Inoue Brothers Autumn lookbook and it’s…not quite what we expected. In a good way. We’d always assumed that fall lookbooks had to take place in the woods..."- Selectism

SHOUT OUT TO WAD MAGAZINE FOR BEING EDITORIAL GENIUSES...VAVA DUDU and OLIVIER MULIN YOUR OUT OF THIS WORLD :D W/ "ALL SHOOK UP", LAURA WALTERS YOU GOT THAT BLUE MAGIC FOR "FOREVER IN BLUE JEANS" AND ISABELLE CODANI FOR "TWINS PIX" YOUR DOPE DOPE DOPE...
My favorite question WAD ask Nicola Formichetti...
WAD: Do you have a typical working process?
Nicola Formichetti: I'm very spontaneous. I'm funny. I don't think too deeply. If you do things with your head, you do them with your ego, and it disturbs your true vision. And anyway, I don't see myself as a stylist. I mean, the job is easy. This is not brain surgery. I am just someone who likes to have fun with clothes. The day I start seeing this as a job, I will stop.
